I love this garden. It is especially lovely around the holidays, perhaps in conjunction with a stay with the equally-lovely-at-the-holidays St Ysidro Ranch. I am fascinated by both Madame Walska and her garden. It is a FEAST for the senses.

Rather than refer to Madame Walska as the seductress of wealthy older men, the docent should have mentioned that these very same men (in addition to J.Paul Getty and the King of Monaco) pursued HER!

The docent should have additionally pointed out that the “Rockefeller divorcee” referred to was none other than Harold Fowler McCormick, son of Cyrus McCormick, the inventor of the McCormick reaper and founder of The International Harvester Company, the stock of which form the basis for the endowment that funds the bulk of the Lotusland annual costs.

This place is amazing!!! The most beautiful garden I have ever seen. Jungle, south west cactus, japanese garden… you could spend your whole life hanging out there and discover something new every day. Really trippy!
