I’m in PR, but I’m a Civil War buff on the side. I’m applying for a freelance editorial position with a foundation that’s about to construct a database of Jews who fought during the Civil War. As my test, I was given a paltry, boring two paragraph rendition of his war record and asked to enliven it. With enough digging, I found the 18-year-old Jew who enlisted with the New York 8th Battery and who went from sergeant to captain. He had arrived here from Prussia and lived in what is now the KV area, aka Ward 4. Will write a lively entry based on what I learned — history come to life!

I lived at 36 Monroe Street from 1959-1969. My uncle had a restaurant on Monre Street for many years. The KV web site is fantastic and brings back many memories!!!
